SaveALope™ is an envelope to put cash every week throughout the year. It is a tool to start the conversation about FINANCIAL LITERACY with young adults, to help them to establish the habit of wise spending and consistent saving.
Growing up in Japan with a single mom and starting to work during the bubble economy, I never really developed a saving habit for myself… till I had a son.
When you are young and are not making much money, or just getting allowance, it doesn’t make practical sense to save, since you do not have any excess income. However, the best time to establish a good habit is when you are young, and no amount is too small to start. $.50 a week will accumulate to $26 a year – which is a lot of money for a 1st grader.
Also, it is never too late to learn a new habit.
Capitalistic idea of “BUY MORE” is attacking our society relentlessly. Advertisers are targeting younger and younger, and we, as a society, need to protect our youth. (article)
More than ever, the pressure to spend on useless gadgets during the holiday season is becoming more invasive. Each American spends about $1000 average in 2015. That is not a good news for our economy when we know that average household’s credit card debit is $15,000+.
We are so detached from cash and we are used to spend money without taking out, count, handing out our CASH from our wallet. Instead, we hand out a plastic card – and see our debit goes up each month, and feel paralyzed. We have hard time understanding CASH flow.
I hope by utilizing SaveALope™, we can bring the conversation and teach the satisfaction of wise spending and saving.
I created TWO types of SaveALope™ – GREEN ones for Adults (save $1378 a year – for Holiday spending and annual saving), and ORANGE ones for young adults (they can set their own commitment amount)
SaveALope™ comes with the workshop. However, if you’d like to purchase it, contact me directly. I will mail it to you – for S&H only.
